This problem with these practices is that most people know of them, and for many, they seem harmless, because their language is wrapped up in a nice palatable Christian language, and therefore can be hard to detect. They distort and twist Scripture in order to have people thinking that these topics are biblical, but they are not.

The warning Scripture from the Bible tells us that Satan is disguised as an angel of light, and his partners in crime, “as servant of righteousness“ 2 Corinthians 11:14-15.

God will not be mocked, Galatians 6:7, is a Scripture that speaks of the sovereignty and the holiness of God. Meaning that God knows and you cannot fool or scorn God.

So don’t be fooled by the “light” that is appetizing to the senses, and tries to make you more special than others, but understand that the devil’s work is to separate us from the heart of Jesus and to draw us away from the purity and sufficiency of the Gospel. This he can only do in a smooth-talking, seductive way, where it just feels good.

These practices rebel against God’s commandments, and they will increase spiritual warfare, definitely to the point where the person will lose the spiritual gain over one’s soul. This I have witnessed many times. In kundalini meditation/yoga, most people either end up crazy or don’t want to live anymore.

However, these occurrences do not happen at once, when one starts out, it builds up. One gets slowly but surely more and more entangled into the deceptive way as a normality. This is the first process one goes through in order to establish the needed confidence.

Then there is “the entanglement in the agreement” that needs to be established. This means that every time one says yes by practicing them continuously, one gets more and more entangled into the agreement. Most people do not realize that every time they practice these pagan=new age traditions, they are making an agreement with the forces of darkness.

It’s an ongoing infiltration that at the end of them, will lead you to the breaking point. How long this takes varies, but it will for sure happen.

Many of times, people start living a rebellious and manipulative life privately first. The deceptive nature starts in one private life and for the male part, sexual perversion enters the scenery. All this evolves before the downfall.

This is one of the reasons why Jesus has the deepest concern for our souls and inner life, such as moral, integrity, purity of heart, growing in virtues. The discipleship of the Lord is of most importance in order not to fall, to sustain us, and “to have ears to hear with and eyes to see with”, in other words, – spiritual discernment.

The fruits of the Spirit are as follows: “love joy peace patience kindness goodness faithfulness gentleness and self-control”. Galatians 5:22. These are the qualities of the Holy Spirit. Within these, all-inner holy life is contained.

1 Yoga

It is a practice that is rooted in Hindu worship; therefore, one cannot separate the idolatrous spiritual origins. Every time one posture one-self in a yoga position one worship an idol because every posture corresponds to a Hindu god.

“What agreement has the temple of God with idols?” 2 Cor 6:16

2 Mindfulness

A buddhist traditional practice which focuses on letting every thought pass without judgment. However, the Bible is clear on getting a renewed mind, Romans 12:2 by not letting us be conformed to the world. Not every thought that enters our mind is in alignment with the Word of God, therefore we need to take those thoughts captive.

The Bible is clear about that mediation should be on Scripture, not upon ourselves. Biblical meditation is chewing on the Word of God.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”. Romans 12:2

“You shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it”. Joshua 1:8

3 Breathwork/Rebirthing

A practice where one focuses on the release and spiritual cleansing, which for example, could be from traumatic childhood occurrences, though the breath. By this, it impersonates occult trance performances, instead of prayerful dependence on the Holy Spirit as guide.

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth; for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak; and he will tell you things to come”. John 16:13

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God”. Romans 8:14

Dream interpretation, including books that use symbols to explain dreams, denies God as the sole revealer of dreams. In the Bible, the sole interpreter of dreams was and is God.

“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out” Leviticus 19:31

5 Positive affirmation

The statement “I am” places us first, which is used as the first statement in positive affirmations, diminishes God in every way. It’s a way of trying to manifest positive outcomes, however, it merely imitates magi spells instead of biblical prayers. One does not change one’s mind by repeating affirmations. The sole changer of our lives is the Spirit of God. The renewing of the mind is needed through the Holy Spirit Romans 12:2.

“When you do pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the gentiles do” Matthew 6:7

6 Healing / Reiki Healing

This kind of healing is merely channeling “invisible” energy. It’s a pseudoscientific form of energy healing. The energy is present; that is why it is dangerous. One unknowingly channels energy from a place of darkness. It is occult sorcery disguised as therapy. There might even be seemingly healing occurrences; this reveals the spiritual power behind it. Therefore dangerous.

Avoid unholy common and silly stories or false teachings – Gnostics or traditional ones.

“Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly” 1 Timothy 4:7

7 Shamanism

Is an old spiritual practice, where the shaman changes his consciousness mainly through drumming, singing, dancing or meditation, to travel to another world – the spiritual world. A parallel “reality” filled with spirits, power animals, and different guides. All in order to get spiritual power, wisdom, and healing for himself and the community. The shaman becomes the mediator from the spiritual world to the physical world. Jesus is the only mediator no person could ever hold such a position. This is condemned divination. Seeking answers outside God is considered idolatry.

Jesus gave His life up so that man could live; this is the strongest foundational trait of love. This makes Him trustworthy in all points, therefore the only one to seek answers from is Jesus.

“Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead” Deuteronomy 18:10-11

8 Astrology / Horoscopes

Looking for guidance through the stars is condemned divination. Using them to guide our lives is complete idolatry. The Holy Spirit is the only leadership that can and will lead us to life. The Bible speaks about the stars as being God’s handiwork and instruments as part of His created order more serving as symbols of guidance and divine provision, rather than independent gods.

9 Tarot cards / angel cards / clairvoyant / fortune teller

Trying to receive an answer from above through these mediums is repacked divination, which is condemned by scripture. If anyone hear/receive anything, it’s from the world of darkness. Demons know things about people; knows their desires, their lives, and so forth. Since they are of the spirit world, they can very easily change location, set up things to occur; predict occurrences because they set them up. This is what people listen to when they seek guidance through these practices.

“You shall not interpret omens or tell fortunes” Leviticus 19:26

In clairvoyance, the gift of prophecy has been handed over to Satan. It has been turned into clairvoyance, properly because the church has failed discipleship, failing in taking care and giving proper biblical teaching. The gifting in itself is from God, but misused. “Every good gift and every perfect gift are from above, coming down from the father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change” James 1:17.

Jesus is The Prophet, what did He do? He spoke about heaven and hell, about repentance, and to pick up your cross and follow Him.

10 Meditation / Christfullness

Meditation is a way of elevating one-self into become one with the Hindu god Atman. A transient experience, where one become as god. This is unbiblical; we cannot become what we are not. We can chew on the Word of God to turn into His likeness. We can commune with Christ, to know more about Him, and by that His nature grows in our Spirit man.

Jesus redeemed us from fallen man, Adam man, He paid the price for our lives; thereby we can only live through Him. We ourselves cannot turn ourselves into what we are not.

“But his delight is in the law of God, and in His law he meditates day and night” Psalm 1:2

“Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts” Jeremiah 15:16

If you experienced being convicted and want to change your ways, repent and ask God for forgiveness. The spirit world behind each and every one of them is real. Don’t be fooled. Remember, God loves you beyond measure and most gladly receives you coming home. Whether you were backslidden into pagan new age traditions or because you feel convicted by reading this article, and you didn’t know these things, but practice them, know you can always come home.

The prodigal son used all his possessions, but came back and asked his father to take him in.
